crossing over

My journey to becoming a photography enthusiast started with weekly photowalk visits to the ancient water towns and villages across the Jiangnan region.

During weekdays, these places are quiet and peaceful — the scenes are just incredibly inspiring to my photographic eye.

Among the many things I love to shoot in these towns are the people — almost always girls — dressed in traditional outfits from different time periods. Could be thousand-year-old dynasty-inspired hanfu, could be a more recent qipao. I like to call them time travelers "crossing over."

They're so fun to photograph — for a moment, they transport me back in time.
